Dr. Trostel was born and raised in Dallas, Texas. He completed his undergraduate degrees and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Texas A&M University (Gig ’em Aggies!). He completed a rotating internship at the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana and several surgical internships in Florida and California. He completed his residency at Mississippi State University and also obtained his Masters degree in Veterinary Biomedical Science from the University of Missouri, Columbia. He has been practicing as a surgeon in southern California since 2003 at several specialty hospitals in San Diego, Riverside, Orange, and San Bernardino counties.

Dr. Trostel has published nearly 20 peer-reviewed papers in his career and has been a mentor as well as advisor to third and fourth year veterinary students over the last 10 years. His interests include all orthopedic and soft tissue procedures, particularly complex fractures and wound management cases.

In his off time, Dr. Trostel enjoys fishing, golfing, road cycling, and other outdoor activities. He has two cats, Sriracha Bob (gray tabby) and Gomez (tuxedo), whom are not very helpful in paying the mortgage.
